So would it be safe for me to do the same with the MPC2500? I wanna put the most RAM I can that will still work fine. Also if I load the JJ OS will it still read that memory.

Kingston KVR133x64SC3/256 (256mb memory stick) works well in the 2500. It's pretty cheap on Newegg (around $30) and it has a lifetime warranty. You can't go wrong with that. I've installed it on two different 2500s with no probs whatsoever.

BTW: Buy delicate stuff like memory from a "reputable" store like Newegg (or something like it) and not from Ebay...you'll be happier if you do.

Would the EXM128 Akai memory run at the half speed rate or a full 128mb, or is the Kingston the best way to go still ?

has anyone had any luck using the kingston KVR133X64SC3/256 with the 1000 BK (the newer black one)? or any other generic ram for that matter? Please be specific on model (ideally with links).

id hate top spend $50 shipped and it not work. then have to buy akai's $100 stick ontop of the $50 wasted before.

What is the model number of your kingston ram? It says it on the box top that it came with. They make more than one, so you have to be sure you have the right model #. It also has a warranty so just return it if it's defective (and the correct memory stick). I am also unclear as to what you mean by "get's a failure at 50%". Is this during startup, or when recording a sample?

By djlimbs Thu Mar 06, 2008 8:15 pm
the 50% error is at startup. not sure the #, i'll peep after work, but it was one of the links in the thread. also got RAM off ebay that was guaranteed to work. Same 50% error. my MPC's picky as f*ck

for everyone's info, i just received an official AKAI EXM128 and it failed like the other RAM on my MPC.

Error:

pass 1: failed (883367fc)
Problem was found in memory
Please check the memory

Looks like I've got a faulty MPC. Hopefully AKAI will be helpful in sorting this out.

Damn this thread is way long.
Anyone familiar with AllComponents RAM?
NewEgg has that and also the Kingston both within a couple bucks of each other. Seems Kingston is better, there flash cards have always worked for me but havent used the memory.
