It is possible to crash the mpc while sending out CC with the qlink when a certain effect is inserted in one of the slots.

When you make a tremolo effect using the modulation page (lfo triggers the amp), sounds are getting panned hard right or hard left

adding 6db is not really 6db (program/multi page)
I dunno if this is a bug or ment to be

If AKAI made all these bug fixes, I think they would make a lot of users happy. Happy users, means happy customers. Happy customers, means returning customers. Returning customers means more mula... I might even buy a 5k if they fix the 4k issues I keep hearing about. I haven't had my 4k long, but can't help but feel a bit disillusioned now that I hear about bugs in the OS. Keep the bug list coming. If there is a chance to have a more solid OS, everyone benefits.

I work for an entertainment company (to remain nameless) and we make games. The games that get the most attention are the ones that people make noise about and show support for. If AKAI would see that they have a bunch of users with pitchforks and torches, they MIGHT do something about it (of course that doesn't guarantee diddly squat, but the chance of it is higher than not doing anything)...

to get a definitive list of bugs.

Yes, my idea too. Got a message from a guy from a Dutch synthforum (where I posted this too), saying he owns a 4k for years and kept a buglist himself. He will send that one this weekend too.
This is good.

I'll look at the sysex too.

I have been spending a lot of time with sysex, so will report anything I find, however, I don't think it is quite as bad as people say as most of the commands I've tried so far do work. The biggest issue I've noticed is that there are missing commands, often from features that were added in later OSes. There is absolutely NO sequencer functionality documented at all, only the midi file playing feature from the Z (which doesn't do anything on the 4k). There are also commands in the documentation that are simply not 4k features... they were probably possible future features that never made it to the OS.

Here is an example: I wanted to control the tempo through sysex. There are two tempo parameters in the documentation. One is for midi song functionality on the Z, and does nothing for the 4k. The other is for multi tempo. Unless I'm missing something, there is no such thing as multi tempo, tempo is determined by the sequence or master setting.

this is not saved and reverts to channel aftertouch when you next load it.

This setting is also missing from ak.sys, although I'd rather them concentrate on the MPC.

Similar to this, although a border-line feature request is that the MISC mode setup page allows the pads to send out poly aftertouch, but not channel aftertouch... which is almost always what is used. The bug above makes this twice as annoying. This is an extremely easy fix as it is simply an extra option and one Hex character change to the sent MIDI string.

FRESH BUG:

im preparin a new liveset and encountered this bug:

OS 1,71 EFFECTS INSTALLED ( ANALOG OUTS INSTALLED "%& MB RAM INSTALLED
FREE SAMPLE MEMORY: 36%
FREE SEQUENCER MEMORY: 73%
FREE CPU: 94%

i record some drumming on the pads with TC switched OFF (full resolution, 960 ppqn), i then go alternatively to SEQ EDIT or STEP EDIT and nothing is shown there.
But the sequences are there, they play correctly.
only i am totally unable to edit them because they are invisible!!!

SECOND:
in another sequence i have a HORN pattern with very long notes.
if it plays in SOLO its ok, whenever i switch off the solo, the notes are cut before their end.
Can be a max voice problem, but i didnt thought i reached 64....
Real max voices less than nominal? not a bug?
(in fact i have several drum rolls on top of each others in that sequence and also a lot of other instruments...)

the first bug is really annoyng

By MPC 4 ME Sat Mar 15, 2008 5:20 pm
The first one is a problem with OS 1.71. When I first ran 1.71 for a couple of days, I had similar problems. I quickly installed 1.70 again.
The second one is indeed I think a voice limitation. The MPC4000 will playback less voices when you make use of the effects and modulation routings etcetera... At which samplerate is your MPC set?

renegadebliss wrote:The other main bug is Sysex. I don't know how many of the Feline's list include Sysex
issues.... It's probabably about time that we dig down and make sure that at
least the Sysex works as expected.

Maybe we should start a seperate thread of known Sysex commands that work
and known ones that don't work.

It shouldn't take any Code Space to fix the Sysex, since it's already taking the space. We just need them to correct the ones that don't work....
Dave

I'll pay special attention to sysex later.
I'll need to talk to akai to see what's possible in that section. But again, we all want at least a good list of working/non working strings right?
Same goes for the CCs by the way, but that is less work.

There is another thread in this forum which is gonna be the organized version. Besides, I enter the bugs into Akai's bugbase directly.
