I'm a 2kXL user... My boy just bought this 1000 for a hund0 (hook up) The mode button won't work, wont allow me 2 load, save, trim, any of the secondary pad functions. I also can't use the 16 levels, or the full level.
It has about 50 sequences in it and they all play, along with a handfull of programs. I can't record either! I can go through the motion of recording, but when I play back NOTHING! Might this B fixed if I restore factory settings, update the OS.........? anyone help please

i would try restoring to factory settings, that might fix it, you do this by booting while holding delete (i think). but from the sounds of it if you payed $100 for your mpc, i'm assuming you ripped off, anyone who is going to sell it for that cheap, its probably broken. but i'm pretty sure that mpcstuff.com sells the sensor under the actual button, so you could fork over a lot of money for those but i would try doing a factory restore.

Yo, It was a steal.... but not stolen. I tried what you said but nothing. I tried putting the OS on a CF card and powering it on with the card in, nothing. Is the only way 2 update or load the OS with it connected USB to your comp? I thought I read that here.... I was going 2 open the MPC up and C if I can C any problems, try cleaning it a bit...

i wasn't implying that it was stolen, just that he sold it to you for so cheap because it was broken. but that is besides the point. to load the os of the flash card. you boot holding the window key. if that button isn't working, i don't know what to do. and yes, opening up the mpc and just removing the buttons and removing the gunk that develops between the sensor and the actual button would be a good idea. i do it every couple of weeks. cause if you use your mpc a lot it develops quite fast, and it just limits the buttons.

no problem, happy to see that it is all fixed now, well mostly. I would definitely pick up the pad upgrade, yes its pricey but trust me it will pay off for you in the long run. I got it, thought it would be tough to install, but i just was careful and it all works out, they feel better and work better.

i am so jealous
i would love to pick up another mpc, one for home, one for the road.
i would buy the biggest POS mpc1000, broken down, stepped on, smells like beer

fix it up, give jj 70 dollars, buy the pad fix from Mike at mpcstuff....

all so i don't have to constantly reconnect cords in DAW

nym. just fyi. i would look on ebay. when i was helping my brother snaggle his 1000 last month (by the way he got the best deal i have ever seen, black 1000, 40 gb harddrive, 10 gb of samples, jj OS 4.94, ram upgrade and 2 gb compactflash all for $450 with shipping. ridiculous). But there was a couple of beaten up mpcs for like 200-300. with broken pads and like broken buttons and stuff like that.

sorry for the Dr. Frankenstein page revival but quick question.

i found a cheap mpc1000 with a broken cf eject button (possibly cf reader is broken too). i'm pretty sure it's stuck in boot page 1.03, 16 mb,...

i can order some parts and i won't be afraid to fix it myself but can I? for instance, what are the chances it's the mainboard? if it is, will it be cheaper to just buy one that works for sure? currently, it's on auction for around 100 us dollars and it might go up but i wasn't going to spend more than 200. any advice?
