MPC 500 users

I like the 300 movie poster idea... This would look cool man...
And then we could release the mp3 album for free and make a nice buzz for the MPC500

Well, I made one yesterday for this project, and I'm pretty happy with it. I want to do something that parallels that Fredfades beattape that's posted everywhere on the net, nothing amazing, but solid beats that switch up before they get boring.

So yeah, unless we think we can make 30-60 minutes of fire, we shouldn't do this. If we do do it, I think the '500' idea with elements from '300' is a good idea for the cover, but we need someone to make that. And as far as uploading beats like someone asked, we'll email them to whoever's organizing this thing (me as of now) when it's more of a reality.

I know there are enough good producers here to make this work, we just need a commitment from more people.

I think you're right, but why cant we do more beats so the tape can be longer with less producers,,,? and thereby, this is just shit we would do even withouth the tape, so the beats are beeing made anyway...

I'm still down. I don't know if we can get enough people interested to make it work, but I'm still down. I've had school work lately and plan on making all new beats for this, so it might be a little while.

Yo you can count me in on this project. I just sold my 1000 and copped a 500 for the sole purpose of simplicity and portability. I'm going to be traveling all over the world this summer and thought it would be a sweet Idea to go out with a field recorder and a MPC-500 and drop a beat each place I visit with sounds recorded from each country. So I'm all up for a mix tape. I got no problem Throwing the whole thing together in pro-tools if no one else has dibs.

Do we have some deadlines yet? I really want to do this but i wont have my mpc back until probably next week. I already got the sample i think im going to flip and a rough idea of drums, i just gotta put it together when I'm reunited to my 500.

No deadlines yet, I want to have at least 5 beats for this to make sure it's long enough, and I haven't had a whole lot of time to use my 500 this week, so yeah late April probably.

Glad to see more people down with this. Yeah, I'm going to be mixing all of mine down into a DAW, I probably won't track them out and mess with the individual tracks on there, but it's not off limits at all. Basically I think that the 500 should just be the main thing used on all of the songs submitted. If the 500 was responsible more than any other instrument/piece of hardware/software, then I think its OK.

Glad to see that this is looking revived. I'll try to step my game up.

I'm down! I copped the 500 a while back and I love this thing. Comming from (and still using) the 60, I love the so called "limitations", it's the only way to work creatively. Also, you got anyone to do the 300 cover thing? I'm pretty good with photoshop and can give it a shot if no one else steps up?

Nice. Yeah, I'm actually a fan of the 500's limitations, sometimes it pisses me off, but overall it helps me take direction. Noone has volunteered yet for the cover, it's yours. So far, we're thinking of incorporating the movie '300' in, but as '500', but feel free to go a different direction, just make the dopest cover you can make, and input your own ideas.

If we keep adding people at this rate, I might not need to add 5-10 beats to this, meaning we can get it done sooner. We won't worry about dates yet, just everyone keep working.

Count me in....I already got a beat ready....But, I think we need WAY MORE THAN 5 BEATS....I think we should each drop 2 or 3 and let them ride for 1-2 minutes each....


And another thing, THERE CAN BE NO WACK SHIT....I think we need to get somebody on quality control....I'd love to be in charge of quality control, but If you (ssnedden) want to do it, that's fine...

I'm SURE that will prove that I would be very good at handling the quality control aspect, because I won't allow wack shit...Especially since the point of the tape is to prove that you can make dope music with the MPC 500....

So, you guys let me know what you think....

I can also handle transitions between each beat if nobody has already taken that position....?
