Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

A couple quick questions: (i already tried the search function)

I installed a card reader in to my MPC2kl. It came with one of the big Compact Flash cards. But the laptop I'm using doesn't have a slot big enuff for that type of card.

So I got some Mem Stick Pro Duo cards. These are the real small memory cards that use an adapter to work with most devices. Do these work just as well as the others?

I'm having trouble getting both my MPC and laptop to recognize the cards. When I format them in the MPC they work fine, but only in the MPC.

I tried formating the card in my PC (FAT is the only option I get) But when I click on 'Start', a prompt appears saying "windows was unable to complete the format" Not sure if that means theres something wrong with the card or what? Any ideas?

Muchos gracias amigos

P.S. I got the info on the 8 character filenames and such already

or check out mpc-editor

I tried this. After I entered in the info it said:

The type of the file system is RAW
The new file system is FAT
verifying OM
cannot determine the number of sectors on this volume

Which is cool, I guess. But the prob is when I removed the CF card and reinserted into my laptop. It said "the card was not formatted" and "would I like to format it now" So I tried formating it and it said "the disk in drive d cannot be formatted"??? Whats up wit that?

I had previously formatted them on my MPC, so could that be the problem? Now that its formatted to MPC my laptop wont read it.

I'll check out MPC-Editor. Maybe that'll help

As for the USB card readers, I'll check em out, I didn't realize they were THAT cheap. But I'm thinking that'll I'll be in the same situation. I'll still have the same problem getting my laptop to recognize/format the cards, right?

Update:

I tried formating it with MPC Editor, they have an option for MPC XP disk format (for use in both win xp and mpc)

I think it worked. Now when I insert it in the laptop is shows up as FAT. I'll try it in my MPC to see if I can transfer files when I get home.

So is this MPC editor prog worth buying?

Thanks for all the help.
