question on OS2

just messing around with OS2 and missing some features... maybe anyone can enlighten me?

-where is the good old shift timing & swing option?

- why cant i audition my pads anymore in WHOLE mode without losing my selection?

shift timing and swing is on main screen. while in grid mode, you can use the tap tempo button to assign TC, but not swing. however, you can assign swing to a qlink if you like and input it that way, but you're out a qlink. when in grid mode, hit MAIN to get to MAIN screen to access TC. when in main screen and you want to get back to grid, hit MAIN again for a shortcut to GRID mode.

as for auditioning pads and WHOLE MODE pad range assigning, there is a small bug that exists and a workflow improvement which i will describe later. meanwhile bear with it, cuz it ain't forever

where on the main screen? i cant find it

they should have put the CLICK under shift

WHOLE i don't find to be a problem after getting used to it, it becomes muscle memory. what i would like to see happen with WHOLE is being able to specify a range by first hitting 1 pad, then hitting another pad.

TC i no longer use, but i imagine again it's just a matter of getting used to it
any change = minor inconvenience til your fingers get used to the new movements.

I've wanted that for so long -- even if you have to still hold the F keys to set the range, if you could hold the key and press the pad it would still be a huge time saver and convenience

I also co-sign on switching CLICK to be the 'shifted' function on the main screen. I imagine people are changing their TC and swing settings far more often than their click settings

^ ooh, good call on that click/tc switch idea, very good call.

I use click with 1/4 or 1/8 and click in play : yes /no a lot more than the TC and swing. bad idea for me.

4 me T.C. way more than Click, but if you hit shift under the main screen it is still damn easy to get to.
It became option 7 (I think) because it is still pretty functional w/ the tap tempo.

I suppose people using direct recording allot may change the Click settings allot.
It is such a small issue though who really cares?
In the current layout's defense I turned the click off today.
I had the Stereo outs acting as 5 & 6 out as always.
I had a bass line on those tracks on my mixer.
The clicks were so freaking loud I killed 'em.
Who the hell has time to adjust click levels when your making a beat?
I say leave it as is.
Still my 1st thought was why the hell would they remove T.C. & leave Click when I 1st installed the update.
Then I figured out shift & now I hope he fills that 2nd row with "stuff."

I like click where it is.
Easy access makes sense to me cause you can change click details while the sequence is playing, very helpful for jamming and live playing. Whereas Swing can't be changed without stopping the seq anyway, unless you've got the qlink set,and then you dont need to go to the screen anyway.All other t.c. values are turned on/off easily via the note repeat button.

when midi cc => qlink/qreal, i will stop using my qlinks as qlinks altogether...they will no longer specify QREAL or QLINK NOTE ON data, instead i'll use them solely for their "extra" functions like swing/shift time, or tempo, or velocity and duration in midi grid edit. can't wait for that, because it will make the access to TC from the main screen unnecessary cuz you'll always be able to specify the TC increment w/ tap tempo, and the swing increment via qlink if you're using TC at all.
