Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By Marvel Fri Mar 21, 2008 5:02 pm
Hey Everybody,

Don't ask me how, or why, but I ordered a MPC 2000XL off eBay and got frauded. 825 dollars down the drain. So of course, I really want a MPC and I'm going to order a new one. I'm thinking about going with the MPC 2000 instead because it's a lot cheaper and obviously you can make good music on that one too :P Anyway, Am I missing out on anything special for not going with the XL? Thanks

How did you get frauded?

U REALLY want to get an XL instead of a classic, for several reasons...

Don't get a 2000 classic...

It's the same machine, only less features (no folders etc). It's a lot more difficult to stick a card reader in a 2000 classic compared to xl. There's not one advantage of the classic over the xl to my knowledge...

If I'm wrong, lemme know 2000 classic users...

Nah B, you're on point. If I knew what I now know BEFORE I got my 2k classic, I would have got the xL. BUT, with what I know now, unless I came across an offer I couldn't refuse, there aren't enough extras for me to justify buying an XL when I already have a classic.

Like dude said, if you're starting from 0, get the XL.

Peace,
KM

From personal experience the things I can think of that the classic has over the XL are:
1. You can exit 16 levels while the sequencer is running
2. Tap tempo button actually works
3. Looks better (IMO)

None of these 'features' are a real deal breaker though and obviously the XL has more going for it overall.
And I agree that the real downside of a classic is no folder support.
Every time I'm messing round with multiple zips I think about trading up to an XL or even a 2500. Or as I've mentioned in another post, forgetting about using it as a sampler and using it purely for triggering software synths and samplers.

Backup B...if you ordered it off of eBay file a fraud complaint or whatever with eBay, ESPECIALLY if you paid with PayPal (the only way to do it in my opinion). Don't just kiss your $825 goodbye that easy!

Peace,
KM

lol yeah I tried that already. It was kind of eBay's fault you know, according to their resolution center you should report it to PayPal AFTER 45 days, so I waited for 45 days you know. So when i contact paypal on like the 46th or 47th day, they say that you had to report it WITHIN 45 days, because that should be sufficient time to receive the item, and even send it back if that would be necessary. So actually there is NOTHING I can do, that fkn SOB just earned himself 825 dollars.. BUT, I just got a note from the mail-office that I have a package to pick up, but it might aswell be a record I ordered. Well anyways, I've kinda given up hope that I'm actually going to get it, so I'm already saving all the money I get so I can buy a new MPC in a month or two. This time I'll definetely report the item to paypal if I don't get it within 2 days, just to be on the safe side lol. Again thanks for all the replies, peeace

you should give it longer then 2 days next time to report something like that. people have to have time to package it (which shouldnt take more then a day) and ship it to you. then you gotta give it time to get to you. depending on the shipping method. it can take anywhere from a day (overnight) to more then a week (snail mail). But a good seller will have good communication with the buyer.
