mpc1000 vs. mpc2500

hey guys, i was looking to get an mpc. this will be my first mpc and i was wondering if anyone could help me out with making a decision.
currently, im leaning towards the mpc1000 because it seems "less complicated" than the 2500 and it's cheaper but i'm definitely open to opinions.
currently, im running a yamaha mm6 with a tascam us-144 and cubase le.
if anyone has any inputs based on this being my first machine and/or my setup, it would greatly appreciated.
also, does my setup seem alright to add an mpc? anyone have any advice on this either?

I have the 2500 and it is definately the better choice in my opinion. You can get a 2500 at VST Professional Audio for $1899.00 now fully loaded. EXM128 memory, CDM25, and a 120 GB hard drive.
With the MPC 1000 it would be in your best intrest go get the pad upgrade: $170.00 there, 128 MB ram: $75.00 there, $110.00 for a hard drive if you want to save your sh!t other than on a compact flash card. Don't foget to add the hard drive adpater kit you will need to put the hard drive in the 1000. $30.00 dollars there. Ok, now lets do the math. To get the MPC 1000 to sort of sit where the 2500 is at: lets say purchase price is $999.00. With add-ons it is about $1385.00 without tax, and pain and suffering. Don't foget, no tilt screen, smaller pads, no cd drive, and possible lesser build quality. Plus with the 2500 you get two more midi outs, and four more main outs. As a matter of fact the only thing that I might see that I like better is the data wheel of the 1000. So $1899.00 or $1385.00. So $500.00 more for the 2500 than the 1000 fully equiped. Gotta weigh it out.

I just checked that deal out at hiphoptools. Damn that ain't bad. Not bad at all. One thing though, maybe see if you can call hiphoptools and see if they have the new pad upgrade in them. The reason I say that is because I have read alot of people having serious problems with the previously designed pads. There is some good info about it here on the forum. i went with the 1k. i saw a loaded used 2.5k on ebay for around 1200 I think though and was tempted, but I like to get my gear new or at least be able to check it out before I buy. I like the smaller size of the 1k and with the jj OS i hear the features are about the same. I did like the pads better on the 2.5k but that was not a deal breaker.

i walked into sam ash and talked them down to around $880 for a new 1k after tax. ram is around $30, hd around 55 for an 80 gig, 30 for hd kit, 30 for jj OS. So I'm up to around 1025 and pretty happy with it so far.

I'm pretty sure the 2.5k retails for $1700 now, someone on this board mentioned getting them down to 1450 at guitar center or sam ash, so that's worth a shot. If you can get that price, you're looking at around $1600-$1700 for a loaded new 2.5k, so around $600 difference or so.

either, or, they're both good machines capable of equal results. it's matter of physical size and few features that sets them apart.

if you end up getting 1k, make sure it already got new upgraded pads.
