why so many people hating on the mpc?

im soon to get myself a mpc 2500 if all goes to plan. but seems like everyone tells me no no what u can do with the mpc u can do much beter on the pc. so kinda like are there still producers who realy use mpcs or are they all moving away from it towards software? just seems like so many people nowdays are hating on mpcs makes me mad sometimes.

Hmmmmmmmmmm....9th Wonder uses software sometimes, but not everyone is moving away from the MPC going to software, besides don't you like to be in control like 1st hand experience. I dunno about you, but I like being in control, software doesn't give you the full satisfaction...If you get an MPC use it don't be the one who buys it and lets it collect dust...

I like the MPC beacause it gives me a very hands on approach to my music. That was one thing I disliked about software-it felt too distant and artificial. Not that there is anything wrong with using software. But I prefer to have as much control over my beats as possible. That and the controlled workflow fits my personality. With FL, I felt like I was spending too much time dicking around with the plugins and fx than making anything listenable. I really didn't like having all those adjustable parameters open to me at once since it distracted me from making music and instead focusing on mindless minutae.

yea u are right about that. with the pc or mac there is also the thing of being distracted cause u can watch movies listen to music or surf the web. on the mpc u are forced to make music and that is what i want.

honestly whoever told u that sounds like a dumbass, a PC and MPC are two things that do different things, they are uncomparable really

WHat!?!? u kiddin me, most major producers use MPCs or something similar, and Wooowwww 9th wonder u say??? so thats one producers out of a million who actually doesnt use an MPC, next thing u know u hear everyone sayin, "You dont need an MPC because 9th Wonder doesnt need one!!!" LOL

If anyone hates on an MPC they either dont like Hip Hop, They dont know how to utilize great hardware, or they are too broke and to afford hardware and all they do is praise their own software

well realistically speaking, a factory os 1000 or 2500 is awful goddamn limited. jjos helps a lot, but as far as feature list goes, most software samplers are far more feature laden.

BUT. the issue comes with feature accessibility and as others have said the "hands on" thing. software tweaking = mouse, no way around it without having mapped a dedicated midi controller to every (EVERY) function of your soft sampler. and even then you have to load samples, browse your explorer, etc etc etc

MPC is far simpler, far crappier technology - and that's exactly what is called for. new mpc users moving from software bemoan not being able to load dozens of kick samples so they can just surf thru em til they find the good one. many new mpc users create whole pgms of just kicks, others of just hats, others of just snares so they can surf. bad move--as i've learned that's not the optimal way to use the mpc.

MPC improves your ear by necessity, otherwise you end up wasting LOTS of time "surfing." due to slow load times (even the 1000/2500 load large INST pgms slow compared to a computer) you're forced to think ahead and settle for something that you could work with/play/edit until it fits rather than relying on THAT MAGIC, PERFECT PRESET.

MPC improved my understanding of timing, groove relationships, note nudging in part because you play w/ your hands, and also because you're constantly faced with the actual time position (ticks) compared to a grid position.

MPC is a compositional tool, not a mastering tool. this is why my songs are only 1/2 finished when they're done in the mpc, a whole other dimension is added in DAW. macrosampling, mixing, effects, powerful snare layering - all done within DAW

not that limited stock os besides the crappy midi sync problem, if you cant make a hit single with a 2500 outta the box you shouldnt really be doing beats! the 2500 is an all in one package to make sound crack. dont listen to fools. you get outta it what u put into it. its a sampler

i've never heard anyone hate on mpc's.... ever. if they do, WHO CARES. do you plan on making beats while they stand behind you with their dcck in your butt?

9 times out of 10 anyone hating on the MPC has never had the pleasure of owning one. because they are too cheap to buy one, They would rather use there moms or there babyMaMA's computer and download fuityloops and other free software and sounds, and go around town swearing to be the best producer. (If you are too cheap to INVEST in yourself why should anyone else) Do any of the people who told you not tot buy an MPC have one, or can they even afford it!
