Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

HI.... MY BLUE MPC HAS STANDARD 256MB RAM AND AFTER INSTALLING ANOTHER PC133 256MB CARD IVE NOTICED THAT IT DOESNT SHOW UP 500MB OR THERE ABOUTS??? IS THE 4K NOT 'SEEING' THE RAM OR IS THERE ANOTHER REASON?? THE RAM IS BRAND NEW. HOLLA BACK PLEASE PEOPLE..!! THANKS!!

CL2.5 is the recommended clock speed for the memory, of course this is what's suggested by Akai. This is because the memory must match the cpu in order for it to work properly. This should be highlighted somewhere on the memory if you didn't know.

doesnt say cl2.5 anywhere on the chip.... ahh Poo.. now i gotta get another one but ive noticed that they dont usually say whether its cl2.5 or not... bloody hell..! would anyone know who sells them... thanks!

make sure they are the exact same spec. i had the same problem too because i wasn't smart enough to open the mpc up and see what it had before i bought the second ram chip.

i think mine came w/a pc100hz, and i bought this one:

i was having problems w/both sticks installed, the the mpc worked fine w/one or the other installed.

then i went back and bought a second pc133 ram stick inorder to get the full 512mb effect. now the mpc works perfectly.
