yes it would be brilliant if jj could work out this inane flaw in the manufacurers thinking.

it startles me that akai had the bright idea that this could well be a useful addition to the box and didn't go as far in thinking that users may well want to SAVE THE F*****' SETTINGS.

Well i wrote up an email and set a feature request to JJ,
hope he gets it!

Just got an email from JJ regarding the default assign and he said:

"Before turning off a power supply, a setting is saved by pushing a MAIN button."

Cant seem to get it to work!

anyone else tried this?

no, that doesn't work. i assume he misread or misunderstood your question- that's how stuff that can get saved does get saved, but there is no way to save the default assign (well, if akai- or should i say numark- is to be believed, anyway) at the moment...

I know this is a headache, and I've been there too. I made 1 program named Program01 and re-assigned all the midi notes in that program. I then copied it 10 times, renamed them program 1-10. I then saved it in the Autoload folder, so everytime I start up I have at least 10 blank programs to work with my midi/key settings.

I actually don't do all my work in the MPC. Once I have a beat I just put it in Logic 8 anyway, so I really don't need 10 blank programs, but for some of you heads out there this might be useful.

I just did this today, so I'm assuming its going to work out for me. If you need a new program when working on something you could just copy a blank program and rename it to do your audio chopping.
