it must be sum kind of transfering protocol for some akai products as z series as well but that is all i can get for it now 
hi there,happy to find this cite.i just want to find out more about the mpc cause i really want to by one but not so sure which one will fit my needs.

Ak.sys does transferring. (at least for the 4k and z series samplers) It also automates mixing and program functions right on your PC, as well as link up to whatever editing program you have so that you can send a wav straight from the 4k's memory into cool edit, for example, and back. It basically makes the 4k and your PC like it's one device. I doubt the 1k will get any type of ak.sys functionality.
