triggering sequences from ableton live/a DAW

we've recently programmed some beats in to a mpc, have them sequenced and can trigger them manually.

we'd like to trigger these sequences from within ableton live, hopefully as clips but have failed to make this happen after hours of fiddling.

it's MPC 1000 we're using.

there is two ways of doing it i can think of:

1.record them as audio into ableton, and use that to trigger audio loops.

2.transmit program change messages from ableton- the mpc can translate program changes into sequence changes.

what you won't be able to do is sequence midi from ableton to trigger multiple programs on multiple tracks of the mpc, at the moment the mpc responds to midi in on the current track only.

Ok, the second method sounds more like what i want. Could you tell me how i do this, or tell me where where i can find out how to.

LIVE comes with a PDF manual. It's pretty neat and logically written...just not quite complete. But for what you want, it's all there.

you can set clips in ableton to send midi program change messages when they're triggered.

on the mpc : mode pad 9 and f1(midi)
program change to sequence change needs to be set to on.
pc 1-99 from ableton will correspond with seq 1-99 on the mpc.

remember , that any Sequence changes that are sent via Program Changes are then put in the "Next Sequence" queue and will the Sequence will change at the end of the current sequence.

At the current moment, the only MPC that has the option to change the Sequence immediately when the Program Change is received, is the MCP 4000.

Does JJ OS solve the problem that you can't change the Sequence immediately when the Program Change is received for the mpc 1000?

Not sure, but if not, it's something he should add....
