I've been offered a MPC 4000 for 1700$ and a MPC 2000 XL for 950$ -
I can't really make up my mind between the two... My question is if the 4000 is worth almost twice as much?
I'm also a bit worried that a 4000 would kill my workflow compared to a 2000... I don't know if i need all that extra jazz the 4000 has...

And you can't even chop on the 4000 I mean you can if you use AKsys.

Of course the 4k chops, it auto chops as well, it can even shuffle the chops around without destroying the original sample.
The only thing it didn't do was chop to peaks like Recycle does.
Doesn't have anything to do with AkSYS.

Unless you are buying a 2kxl for $500 or less it pretty much a bad choice.
It's kinda sad because the 2k is a good box but it's too new to be like the older units soundwise and too old to have the features of the newer units.
If you want to spend $900 contact VST and get a 1k but get them to verify it has the new type pads.
Put JJ on it and enjoy your life.

Also with new 2500's now costing $1400 and used ones under $1k, $950 for a XL is just criminal.

there is a way to chop at a certain threshold but no it doesn't do what recycle can

The 4000 is in a different league than the 2000xl. Your life will be much easier with the 4k.. Internal Hard Drive, you can put jump drives on it to xfer from computer or hook it up via usb.. It sounds amazing and the Q link knobs can do way more than the 2kxl's.. I would go for it but try to find on for around 1400.. they are out there..

With the 4K can load up Multi sample Keygroup programs. :D

It's nice to be able to hook a MIDI controller keyboard to the 4K, play some keys and still have someone tap out a beat at the same time.
