Buy a used MPC60 but...

Hi folks,

I wanne buy aused Mpc but there is a problem with the smtp

I´ve got the message from the seller:SMPTE sync inputs (again, rarely used), is missing the 1/4" input cap (the input is fine, just the cap broke off in shipment years ago and I never cared to replace it). Lastly, while it's not a genuine defect, it's worth pointing out. The sample input on the back acts funny. What I mean is, if you insert the 1/4" into the input all the way.. it will not pick up signal. However, if you pull the 1/4" out about a 1/4 of an inch, it picks up just fine (no introduced noise or anything like that). I suspect over all the years of plugging and unplugging 1/4" cables from the input, the clip the TRS rubs against has been ever so slightly bent

From what I read everything is working fine but you have to plug in the input cable just right (not all the way).

Dunno what they're going for in the us these days though...

I wouldn't buy it. It already has a known problem and that's a hefty price tag.

Not too sure about that. Looks sketchy. But email him and see if you can meet up to check it out in person.

My friend is selling one in mint condition for 800 or 850 (can't remember). He's living in Amsterdam. Check the for sale section on this board and look for a post by Nowald. I don't know if it's still available but I think so...

due to the age of MPC60 I only suggest buying mint condition ones.

there are a slew of things going wrong with them. i've seen many with the buttons all messed up, the pads all messed up.

the problem is a broken jack, it's just going to get worse, and be a pain to fix.


once there's one problem like that, it sounds like it was mistreated...

mistreated gear will usually act pretty shitty.

i also watch out for gear that somone overly cleaned n all that. some of these people who are OCD with this shit over clean, and use wrong products, destroying sensitive materials, which while they have it will work well, if they sell it a little while down the way some of those cleaners could seriously mess things up.

when i buy used gear now from 90 and below, i expect to get it repaired, or even send it to a tech just to tune it up and make sure it's 100% so if something acts up, it's my fault instead of the gear's(can be super frustrating when u get a piece of gear and go >:o it's broke and u realize it's your cable or some other shit ya know?)

I´ve bought it 4 800dollars because the dollar is at the moment weak and we´ve got a strong euro.
The MPC looks like new and had become a new pad.
The seller told me that she works 100% and is fully loaded.

DO Mint MPC 60s even exist anymore???

It seems like the prices on these things are only getting higher. I'm tryin to buy one for a cousin in the Philippines and it seems like they are more expensive than when when I was lookin around for my first MPC only a little over a year ago.

The above problem sounds a very minor one and with a bit of soldering is easily fixed.

I bought an mpc60 and i replaced the backlight foil, soldered the power board,
cleaned the floppy drive, cleaned the switches and now it feels like new, apart from the floppy which is a bit temperamental sometimes (i am getting the scsi board).

I also have an mpc1000 and xl, but the 60 is now the only one i am using because it sounds sweet and with the armrest and the look i really like working away at it...
