effects board 2kxl

maybe i should post this in the beginner section but it's pretty technical so i thought id try here...
so i got my 2000 xl and wanted to do some eq and compression to my kicks to make everything hit harder and it says the effect board is not installed. soo i've gotta invest in one and am wondering if there are different ones or which ones you all prefer for making your drums sound top notch..

Huh? Akai makes only one effects board it's a EB-16.

and I suggest you get one while the gettin' is good. I don't think the EB16 will help you with your eq and compression, though.

use a computer.

or if you have 8 out run it through a mixer for eq... idk bout compression though...

get a compressor for compression. They usually come as rackmounts and you can run it through the channel(s) in your mixer (get a decent Mackie mixer and you'll be good).
