Is this Right?

I want to say thanks to stereoroid for answering my questions regarding the mpc 1000 and Triton Rack. I do have another question though. What I was trying to do is my MPC as the sequencer for my Triton Rack. Not the Keyboard but the Rack Version. This is the only way I could get it to work correctly. I have a Keyboard Controller. MIDI Out from the keyboard to the MIDI in on the MPC. MIDI out of the MPC to the MIDI IN of the Triton Rack. MIDI out of the Triton Rack back into the MPC. This is the only way I could get it to work correctly. I am kind of worried, because I heard you can possibly damage your equipment if you have the wrong kind of MIDI loop going on. Is this True?? Thanks a bunch!!

My MC-505 went spastic one day when I was connected to a really long daisy chain of like six instruments. So it can happen, but with what your doing I doubt it.

MPC MIDI OUT ----- TRITON MIDI IN -----TRITON MIDI OUT ----MIDI CONTROLLER IN.

Think you'll be OK with that... there's only a real danger of a loop if your Triton Rack has any kind of Soft Thru going on. I suspect not, since that's a common setup, but it's worth taking a look to be sure. (IIRC it has a "hard thru" anyways.)

Software version of Thru, where the software forwards MIDI from In to Out, not via a dedicated Thru socket. That's what the sequencers do (MPCs, Logic, Cubase. etc.) do, which is perfect for the center of the MIDI setup.

I had a look at the Triton Rack manual again, it doesn't do that - no chance of a MIDI loop here (good). I see you can make its knobs send MIDI data to the sequencer for recording too - cool.

Thanks for the Help stereoroid. I do have another problem though. Like lets say on Track 1 on the MPC, I set it up as a MIDI channel, set the sound on the Triton Rack to where I want it. Play my keys and it loops and sequences just fine. But, whenever I go to say, Track2, get it all setup for MIDI and I want to use a different sound from the Triton, It changes the sound that was on Track 1 to whatever sound I put on Track 2 Is there a way to seperate these? Thanks
