So i just copped another 60mkI

for real cheap to gotta love dope gear being owned by those who gotta pay rent! but everything works on it the back light is out but i got candles if the lamp in the room goes out so its not nessecary its got the 3.10, but im used to the 60II and there is a jack on the back where the SCSI i believe goes reads RD-2335? or something does this mean that it has scsi or what exactly is the jack for? may be real easy to find but i am not to keen on the mkI

You don't have SCSI probably. It was put there because they thought they were gonna do a upgrade thing like a VGA out like a 3000 but they never did a update but it might have SCSI if on start up it says searching for SCSI hard disk.

o kok that makes sense, was just curious.... oh well so the jack is useless?

The S950 manual says this port "allows the S950 to be controlled by computer for sample-editing etc. instead of MIDI", though they don't tell how exactly that works. RS-232 is a standard serial port on PCs by the way.

I was looking for info about the RS232 port, but never found anything. That was 2 years ago when i first bought the s950. I've tried the MIDI sample dump using ReCycle 1.7 (the older versions recognize hardware samplers), but i didn't have much luck either. I'm sure I overlooked a few things. But I'll make it a point to spend more time learning about transferring samples with the RS232 and the "High Speed" MIDI port. If I learn anything new, I'll post whatever I find.

Cool. By now I found that it obviously understands the SysEx implementation on that port, so you could pretty much edit everything you like in the Sampler, similar to MESA. But haven't found a program to exploit that yet, only one that obviously does sample dump via RS-232, but haven't tried it out yet.

this would be great! although im sure it would require some older computer and if the files are the same as the 60 sound files then that will be hard to transfer because the 60's..... well you know that you cant do anything with them as far as computers go
