Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500
By mrglass08 Fri Mar 28, 2008 8:02 pm
I sent a email to tech support at akai pro to hit me up with a list of
shortcut keys on the mpc 500.
i bought the download version of beatmaking on the mpc500 and it
was really helpful but the akai manual doesnt tell you how to name files with the pads as a shortcut. I am sure there are more shortcuts but no list for them?
well i informed akai pro about it, just thought maybe one of u guys got any tips?

On the Akai pro site you could download a parameter map. It's a map that had all the screens and functions mapped out. But they've changed the Akai site, so I don't know if you can still download it. Check out the support at akaipro.com

when you name a file instead of using the data dial
you can punch in the name using the pads
also when trimming a sample you can push the numeric
button and enter the trim point with the pads.
I would think these two ways are quicker than using the dial,
and i am sure there must be more ways to navigate the
pages quicker.

hows about pressing

shift + the left cursor to set the increments ex. 10 100 1000 10000

perhaps they'd be able to figure in chopping with the note variation slider, that'd be awesome
