sequencing techniques need help?

i wanted to get some tips on using another time signature besides 1/16 when sequencing drums ,i normally use this for everything drums ,hihats keyboards ,but i dont really understand how to use 1/32.1/16 3 or 1/8 notes when sequencing or really when there appropriate for sequencing drums etc....ive done some experimenting when 1/16 3 &1/32 but usually throws my drum pattern off beat so i was hoping i get get some advice on when to use these and maybe some examples posted so i can hear the difference?

can somebody drop science on my question , i just want to know when its more appropriate to use these other note values and what kind of swing or rythm they give to your groove when using drums or keyboard sounds.
example say i do a simple boom bap drum pattern using 1/16 how would it change if using 1/16 3 or 1/32 without being off beat

yeah go to drummerworld.com and what videos like the Purdie shuffle or any shuffle beats to understand more about triplet patterns, or best of all get a mate whose a drummer to give you a drum lesson.
these patterns use the 12 and 24 divisions alongside the 8 and 16 divisions.

so study drums and it will all become clear really quickly.
I spent two years learning to play the drums to improve my programming it helped immeasurably and I also discovered so wonderful musicians on the way.

1/16 -3 is simply 16th note triplets - ta ta ta / ta ta ta / ta ta ta / ta ta ta - try it with a 3/4 time signature to get the feel of it......
