We all know that every-now-and then you would like to have some keys to play instead of pads when it comes to piano chords and such...Pads are fine but you get more from a keyboard "feel". My question is can the Oxygen-8 keyboard controller(my personal preference) be used to control sampled keyboard sounds from the MPC 1K (either via MIDI or USB) to give my sequences more smoothness when it comes to keys?

Yup, I'm doing it - I've uploaded some Programs that do this, using 3rd -party samples I've linked to, or follow the Samples link for some sounds I lifted from the Kawai K5000S. I use the K5000S as the master keyboard to play keyboard sounds.

if i was to cop the oxygen 8 what would it do for me? would i be able to put one sound ( ex: horn) on the keyboard and use the keys to play diff notes of the horn simulating playing an actual horn?

Well, that was exactly what I was saying. I don't know the Oxygen 8, but it has a keyboard MIDI out. If it's a standard MIDI controller, you can make it play any samples on the MPCs.

You have to set up each Pad/Note individually, you can't quickly say "play a sample over a range", but you get quick at doing that, if you save "templates". I put more details down at the bottom of the FAQ page...

alright so i got the keyboard but i was wondering if i can play one note on all the keys with out making a program on the mpc of the same note over and over on every pad. Its a dope keyboard but i just wish i could easily take control of one sound. If anyone has ANY idea of how to do this or just anyhting thrn just PM me.

thanks

short answer: no, you got to do the setup for each pad.

It gets easier if you save "templates" and work from there.
Example: if I sample from other keyboards, I try to sample Fs, optionally Bs. I have blank programs for those options with the tunings etc. all set, all I gotta do is drop in the samples.
