For anyone undecided over whether to spend money on the JJ OS, it's this level of continued after sales support that shows why JJ thoroughly deserves your money.

But correct me if I am wrong....

The latest OS release was to fix what was previously working right?

JJ has his plate full coding OS 2 for both the 1000 & the 2500 simultaneously. in my opinion, os 2 is still in beta. tho i'm using it full time there are still some serious bugs that effect the basic functionality of the os. for example: i personally would be hesitant to use os 2 for a live gig.

i have no doubt that all the bugs will get fixed in time but things have slowed down now because of JJ pulling double duty. i wish he had got the os further along & more bug fixed for the 1000 before he started on the 2500.

sooty, are you getting stack dumps at all?

in what specific areas are you seeing stability bugs? let me know so i can hunt them. they're rare in my neck of the woods

no, no stack dumps. i was speaking more about the general stuff that has been reported in the 'bug reports' thread. some of that, including some of the things that you reported, are what i consider bugs that involve basic functionality of the machine (meaning bugs you'd likely run into during basic use or a performance).

i have had the mpc lock up a few times on me recently where it would keep playing the sequence but become completely unresponsive to controls. the only way i could regain control of the machine was to reboot. this was most likely due to me overloading the cpu but it was a problem that came up unexpectedly & was one i had never run into on os 1. this would obviously be a problem live and makes me wish that JJ would put some sort of cpu limiter in the mpc so that when you hit 90% cpu usage or something the mpc scales back so that you at least have a chance to switch some things off & recover.

yeah that'd be handy. what particular combination of stuff were you doing to max the resources, do you think?

and on that note, i just reported a couple bugs in os 1.02 already
trying to feel a LITTLE useful today haha bug hunting while on the clock...

Sweet getting ready to drop a beat.

I just bought a MPC1000, I just use it for studio use, should I go with JJ os 1 or os 2?
