5.53 (Getting Ready for OS2)

Looks like put out another update.

I'm not sure anyone will load another OS1 update.We've now waited along time to get busy with OS2 update.We're getting sleepy now though.. It's either now or never for some.Please JJ represent real dope for us...wake me up when this is over ..I'm just gonna think about my 2500 with JJ's OS2 ..yeah....OS2..OS2.zzZZzz..OS2..zzzz.

The version corresponding to OS2
OS1(Ver5.53 or more version) into which the password was entered is required for installation of OS2.
If not OS1 of Ver5.53 or more version into which the password was entered,
the file of OS2 will not be displayed on the screen of load.

I guess this means the OS2 is coming real soon... of at least we're never been this close

Well (at least for a week or so)...I will enjoy building instrument programs for the new JJ OS. I have gigs upon gigs of multi-samples from the software samplers I have purchased over the years.

I guess I'm not understanding the translated statement. Are you saying that unless you put 5.53 on before you load OS2 it will not tell you the version you have when you turn the MPC on?
And if I may possibly impose another question, I will be getting my password sent to me for OS1 version 5.51 on April 1st. if I put 5.53 on before I get my password will it still work?

You need to have OS1 ver 5.53 installed, in order for the MPC to see BOTH OS1 and OS2. Any earlier versions will not allow the MPC to see OS2 if you try to install it. So upgrade to 5.53 and make sure you already have the password entered before OS2 is available. When OS2 becomes available, you'll need to purchase a password separately.
When both OS1 and OS2 are installed, the MPC will boot into a screen that allows you to choose which OS you want to work with.

Ok thanks distortedtekno. That cleared it up. But I still want to know one thing, will the password that is being sent to me for OS1 work if I go ahead and install 5.53 now? Meaning, should I install the password while on version 5.51 or should I install 5.53 and then install the password.
Sorry if that seems imbecilic, but from my experience, O.S.'s can be funny about such things.

i'm still on v. 5.36 because pad mode rules so much.

I really hope they put it back now.

okay then so 5.53 is mandatory then for OS2 to show it on the load.This is cool, but this is the last one till OS2 I hope. So who's ready for OS2?

hey king vitamin, on the mpc1000 os2 there is a way of replicating some of those pad mode functions. On audio tracks you can insert marker points in the sequence,when your on the audio track you can then jump around to different points in the seq using the pads. I prefer this to the old way actually cause when your on a midi/drum track you don't lose pads.

The audio track locate thing is really cool, its like like the old pad mode locate feature but to the power of 10, use an audio track without a sample on it and jump where you want in the sequence and remix your MIDI! The benefits over the old padmode are immense..it only works when you select an audio track thank goodness! meaning you can play your programs as usual and use an audio track to jump around the sequence.

I have lost my pw,so what should I do now?I tought I wouldn't need it anymore,will this be negative for me to get an 0s2?I just puted the 5.53

Really? Wow, that sounds awesome. Know of anything, anywhere that discusses it?

All i know of is the os2 1000 manual, scroll about half way down the page and you'll see "pad locate".

It basically works by pressing shift and a pad at the same time, this stores the current song position to the pad.Then whenever you hit the pad it jumps to that song position.It doesn't jump passed loop boundaries as far as im aware.


The quote in my first post in this thread was something i wrote just after os2v1 dropped for the 1000, there wasn't really much discussion about it though.I think its damn cool though!
