sup, just had a jam and worked it out, well maybe,

tilt velocity is a way of changing the way the 4k reacts to velocity, capable of reversing the way it works!
u can set it so hardest velocity u can play(127), will play the sample at 0velocity,and the lowest(0) velocity u can play will play the sample at 127velocity.

ie if u set, tilt velo >>>>>amplitude depth -100 the harder u play the duller it gets. so if u play 100 velocity on the pads the 4k will play the sample at 27 velocity.......ya get me?

when u set the depth to +0 , +100, velocity reacts as normal, but at +100 the 4k is less sensitive to velocity when playing, with lower vels not triggering samples.
so its like your making the velocity slope/envlope work backwards in minus depth,
and your adusting the slope/envs of the velocity response, therefore needing higher velocitys tigger the sample..........
try it with cuttoff and other combos, im gonna get back on that ish

wow! great explanation again raveal - you're tha man! thanx a lot for all that!

well, i get the explanation - what it really means! meaning for which sounds its gonna be workin how - well, i guess its another story - but its great - gonna go experimenting!

another question arised while reading your explanation! mod depth: i was never really sure whether its refering to an absolute or a relative number! well i use it anyway by listening to what happens to the sound rather then by seeing and guessing! but according to your explanation it refers to an absolute number, right? ie. velocity or lfo or anything set as source - set to the ie. cutoff in a depth of +100 is turning the cutoff really 100 up! is that correct? btw. is the question undersandable?

thanx anyway

sup,ty

if u have Tilt Velo>>>>>cut off depth 100+

2polelowpass set up in kg1 with 100 cutoff

and play pads at 127velocity the filter will open up to 100 ,if you play 0 velocity on pads (if ya can) the filter will close to 0 .

if ya have Tilt velo>>>cutoff depth 100-
and you play the pads at 127 velocity the filter will close to 0 ,play 0velocity and the filter will open to 100.

when going from + to - this reverses the way the velocity modulates the source ,
when going from 100 to 0 either way your changing the depth of the tilt(modulation)
which in turn changes how sensitive the cuttoff is to the velocity of ur peformance, not the cutt off directly .... ya see what i mean about depth?

hey thats nearly a realtime tutorial via mpc-tutor.com at 4 in the mornin!!! whereelse do ya get that???

thanx to your explanation everything is clear now with tilt velocity and off velocity!

my previous question was related to mod depth in general (regardless of the source) which i explained badly and which is up til now my last doubt regarding the prog mod window!

regardless of the mod source a mod depth of +20, +50, +100 or - 70 is turning the velocity defacto by +20, +50, +100 or - 70! right? (that would be according to my logics an absolute value and thats what i believe mod depth does) my doubt is that it could be a relative or percentage value (haven't found an explanation bout all that in the manuals aswell)? meaning then it would turn the cutoff up of 20%, 50%, 100% or -70% from its current stage!

thanx again! finally knowing what tilt and off velocity does makes me really happy!

sup alto

realtime tutorials at 4 in tha mornin? ''

no problem, its all good, its taken me just under two years to find that out!

about the depth im sure ya nailed it in your last post but dont know what way round it is either, gonna have a think about/ test this, but i think it would make sense to be relative/percentage cause the range of values it can controll differ 0-100 ,64 ,and so on....?':?' what do u think ?does that make sense,

thanks

sup raveal

ya got my point! the values to be controlled ain't equal all the time! once the range goes to 127, once to +/- 64, not to talk about pitch and amplitude, and all the external **** ...! ... and what sense would it make to control a value from 0 to 100 if its goes up to 8191

... well i m still confused with that and i've already often tried to find that out - without succes up til now! once i was convinced its this way once the other! i'll try again and give u my opinion! quite sure that knowing finally that tilt and off velocity thing will help me to clear that out ...

... currently i think that mod depth controls really ie. the cutoff, resonance, attack, decay, ... (which all have a value range from 0 to 100) in that range (meaning absolute)! but that doesn't mean alot since i don't know it for sure but is according to your last post viceverse to your hought! ...damn!  reason why i think so is is coz the other things which have values to 127, 8191, voume don't know exactly but 16somethin are not controlled by prog modulation! those who can be controlled all seem to have (0 - 100) values! ... dunno, maybe tomorrow i see it again differently!

if any pro's here knows already ... give it a go please ... we're struggling ...

thanx

sorry to disagree'' but i also thought that at first, but you can modulate "LFO phase(range 360)", Resonance(range 0-64) etc ...
which makes me think its relative/percentage all the time or its relative/percentage with prameters outside ,0-100
and absolute with parameters inside, .0-100 !!!!!

....ahhaha my head hurts !

....ahhaha my head hurts ![/quote]

my one aswell ...

fukk seems you're right again (resonance is 64 and lfo phase 360) and i change my opinion again about it! damn, you see how fast that goes and i can't tell you how often that was already!

well i see no other way then testing it with simple samples once at a time! have no time today gonna watch that champions league final now but will come back to that **** asap

see ya

Sup headz,
just been been testing the depth with various different destinations and sources ,and im sure its a relative/percentage all the time?!, if any other peeps reading this have got anything to add/correct , pls do!
and if any of u have got any tricks to share, when using with the mod matrix ....that would be cool

thanx

yo ravael - anyone

i m back to this  again! did some testings in the past few days for 1. mod depth, 2. off velocity and 3. tilt velo! as i said with single samples once at a time ... appying velocity (to understand the mod depth ****), off velocity and tilt velo to various samples such as drumloops as one shot and no loop, single hits, sustained notes, ...

1. mod depth: not fully sure about its relativness but if u say your sure i'll accept it! but i still see two possibilities (which are also not explained in the manual!)! it could be relative

1.1 to the range to be controlled (ie cutoff from 0-100, resonance 0-64) or

1.2 to the parameters current setting (ie refering to the cutoff which is set at 0, 20, 50 or whatever ...)

imo it is relative to the range (1.1)! 1.2 wouldn't make sense if the whole mod depth thing acts relative - coz given a cutoff setting of 0 a 20%, 50%, 100% increase would still leave it at 0! in my testings this wasn't the case.

so - conclusio -
it is relative and applies to the range to be controlled (ie cutoff 0-100, resonance 0-64!) (and there is still a small probability that it is absolute and then either 1.1 and more likely 1.2 is possible!)!

2. off velocity! your explanation helped me to understand what it theoretically is/does! well, in reality off velocity here on my 4k isn't doin anything! ABSOLUTELY NADA!!! where is the off velocity value displayed? can't find anything in seq edit! is the 4k (its pads) sending off velocity at all? or is off velocity only workin when sended from an external keyboard?

3. tilt velo: well, what i first thaught is the most tricky one now is the clearest one of them! ... as raveal said it reverses the way velocity works ... and damn it works and how! great one

if anyone has any input on this it is GREATLY appreciated! and thanx for readin all that ... hope it doesn't confuse anyone

and have a nice day! ... its finally summer here in italy!!! 8) 8)

sup alto,
good looking ,
gonna look into the workings more and get back

also...this might make tilt even clearer.....mabe not though ?''

soucre>
tilt velocity is the amount of velocity after going>>>>>>the velocity response curve/slope

by changing the depth u can reverse the curve to the extent of changing the axis(<?) of the curve response from - +
..... also u can change the range of the slope/curve .from 0-100 making the destination more and less sensitive to the ammount of vel applied to the pads.....??????

cheers...
