DVD-RW Drive...

I remember a handful on this board mentioning that w/ a DVD drive installed, they had no problem auditioning & loading from DVD-R...

Searched (board, reference manual, service manual), and couldn't find sh!t...

So can anyone verify it?
If so, any pitfalls/pointers when installing?

as far as I recall, people have reported being able to read from an ISO-formatted DVD-ROM without problems, if they install a DVD-R/CD-RW combo drive.

there is no Akai documentation on the subject.

co-sign... I've seen several posts over the last 2 years of success of this, and no unsuccessful posts.. so it seems to work. I've been thinking about doing it myself,
since the stock CD is VERY slow, and the local computer shop has DVD-RW's for $36 ...

But I rarely use the CD and the last time that I went to the computer store to get a DVD-RW to put into the 4000, I came out with a USB Jump Drive instead , as it seemed more useful for me... but I'm still thinking about giving it a try... so if I'm successful, I'll post up to the forum...

Yes I would like to know this also. What about external USB DVD-ROM drives? A particular one that works 100%? I have a bunch of sample libraries on DVD in WAV format. Also, is there any possibility that MPC4000 can get infected if the imported WAVs carry a virus?

.wav files cant carry viruses and even if they could the OS of the 4000 wouldnt be affected. Atleast i cant imagine it.

I had a combo drive in my 4000.


I could burn a dvd on my computer, and the akai would read the disk no problem

im going to have to get one of those Combo Drives that read CD-R , DVD-R

how do you instal that muthaFKR ?? any documentation on how to do it fellaz or do you jus have to loosen the 2 screws in the front on each side of the CD-R

my guess is you should read the instructions in the Reference manual on installing a drive.
I know it's a long shot, but it just might give you the info you need.
It has pictures too, if reading is not your thing.
