Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I have both the og MPC2000 Studio (8 outs) and MPC2000xl (grey). Many years ago, I installed the EB-16 into my 2g and all was good. Recently, I took the EB-16 effects board out of my 2g and tried installing it into my 2gXL. Seemed to be fine until I hit the power switch. The screen would turn on, but nothing would pop up. I tried a few more times, same result. Is there some sort of compatibility issue? I doubt it, but what the hell else could be wrong?

Also, I can't remove the 8-outs from my og 2g and put them in my 2gXL right? The whole back board seems to be very different.

Thanks in advance.

by "nothing would pop up"...I mean that it wouldn't actually start and load the OS.

Shouldn't be a problem. Try to reseat everything, maybe the contact isn't good. Perhaps you also fried it with static electricity while changing it over.

Also, I'm pretty sure the 8 outs for the 2000 and 2000XL are the same.

yea you souldent do any of this near or after walking on a carpet... if you do touch something metal to ground yourself or get a static braclet froma computer parts store should only be a few bucks.

Thanks for the info guys. Yeah I make sure to ground myself every time. Haven't tried it again, but I will.

Also, can you install an internal zip drive into the og 2000? I just have the regular floppy drive in it at the moment. I know that it would also require me copying the OS files onto any zip disk that is in the zip drive when the MPC is turned on.
