anybody replace the data whell on their mpc 1000?

was just wondering if it was any easy job, i'm afraid i might fuk up sumthing if i go ahead and try it.

anybody wanna share thier expieriences?

do you mean the wheel itself? if so, it's fairly simple, you just need to remove the faceplate of the mpc and the data wheel lifts off. From what i remember it's a 6mm d-shaft on the encoder, but someone may correct me on that. Make sure you post pics of your custom 1k.

yeah, talking about wheel or encoder?

wheel=very easy
encoder=somewhat easy

we NEEEED to find a 3rd party replacement for that encoder, though, for real. 12.50 usd is too damn much for a .25 cent part

i'm just replacing the wheel itself.

the style i'm goin for my 1k is black and white, so i'm gonna buy one of the black data wheels from mpc stuff, its the same data wheel thats on the new xr20 drum machine.

but i will def post pics.

flat black vinyl paint about 3 or 4 bucks at an auto parts store (unless of course your wheel is broken) they do make a gloss black

vinyl paint is different is supposidly adhears to the plastic instead of just coating it, for ex when i painted my 2500 buttons i went to put the data wheel back on and it kept getting stuck and wouldnt turn properly at first i thought it was the extra coating of paint so i took sandpaper to it and ill tell ya what it was damn near hard to get the paint off

so i would say in the future i probably wont have any problems what so ever with it.

i got the idea off of someone modding their 360 xbox controller
