Hey everybody, I'm about to buy my first MPC in a month or so, and I can't decide which one I want. It's either the 2KXL with the MCD (or Zip disc, but preferably MCD), or the MPC 3000? Which one would y'all recommend? have in mind that this is my first MPC, and that I've only used Fruity Loops before, although not more than a couple of hours lol.

Thankzz

It really depends on what you want. I have had 4 3000's and I still like my 2000XL more in terms of workflow and ease of use.

Well.. I'm probably not going to use any midi such as keyboards, I just wanna make some beats you know. I'm not aiming for a career as a hiphop producer which is why I thought that the 3000 might be a bit of an overkill.

The 3000 sampler sounds better cause it has a warmer sound but you can get the same sound with some outboard gear.

As I'm not really buying a MPC to sell my beats, I don't think I'm gonna invest that much in outboard gear.. well maybe I will in the future, that depends on how good I get. I'm trying to keep it as simple as possible, I already got the TT's and the mixer, and speakers so I'm not gonna invest in sound modules and all that. Maybe a keyboard though like a mini korg or somethin.

It's all up to you they all do the same thing and they might sound a little different but it's all on what you want.

keep in mind limitations of older MPC's compared to modern models. there is no waveform edit in the 3000 so you gottta chop numerically.

Whaaat? Aren't there any OS's out there that enables it? (Can an OS change that Btw?) What do y'all 3K users think of that, Is it hard to edit samples using numbers instead of the wave form?

Nope and it's more like use your ears instead of using #'s

^if you down with tedious work, unreliable media for saving work, trying locate that riff loop 1/3 through the sample. while I see it in waveform right there, highlight the riff with 2 quick moves Q1 Q2 sliders, zoom in to fine chop *done.

I'm onto another loop while you still adjusting your ears to the first trying find the start point.

by the time you chop up your samples by inputing 100's of number combinations you prolly forget vibe you was going for...

aint it obvious every musician/producer/beat maker/ audible person uses their ears?. I never *heard* of blind person using mpc . or newer model mpc being made with thought of deaf in mind

personally I think either xl or 1k would be your top choices.
