MPC1000 as just a plain old sampler?

Upon starting to rebuild my studio from scratch I'm looking to get a decent sampler.

Do you think the mpc 1000 could fit the bill to be a dedicated sampler being triggered from my DAW? I do not do any massive mutli sampling work mainly just loops and cuts from other records and backing riffs and pads.

If so the benefits of the drum pads and other pros the mpc has would really help as opposed to just getting a single unit sampler (or both).

You might be able to find something cheaper that can do what you are talking about my man. Don't get me wrong, I own a 1000 and am quite happy w/ it/, and I'm sure it could do the job you're talking about very well but you may want to explore your options and see if you can save some cash...
