Problem with pad

I just picked up an mpc1K a few weeks ago and so far everythings great. However pad 12 seems to have a problem, when I hit it will cut out as soon as i take my fingers off of it, no matter what the sound is im using. None of the other pads do this I went through the manual and messed around with a bunch of setting with no results. Do I already have a bum pad?

no. select program (main screen), press window, hit the pad, select the sample, press window and switch the play mode from "note on" to "one shot"
