Display too muddy with JJ OSes

Might just be my display but the contrast (brightness of background vs darkness of lettering) is not very strong with the JJ OSes. I adjust the contrast with STOP+dial but either the background gets dark or the lettering is too light. Its not the same with Akai OS and I think the reason is that there is much more black on the display with JJ OSes - letters are smaller and there are more lines and graphics. It adds up to more black on the screen and I now hate looking at the display because of it.

Oddly enough it doesn't show up if I take a photo with flash, I cna't explain why that is.

I'm used to hardware gear displays being less than perfect, but its less than I am willing to live with right now. Back to Akai OS ...

I think I see what you mean. Things don't look as bold on the screen even when adjusting. Not sure if its a JJ OS issue, but it's not so bad on my 2500 that I want to switch back to the Akai OS. This is barely an issue with my 2500, its more of an observation.

I can't imagine it being so bad tho that you want to go back to the Akai OS.

hmm.. an issue with contrast has never even crossed my mind. but then again, i've never used the akai os

Thanks for the replies, I guess my unit is not faulty and I am being a bit picky. It seems to be related to the temperature of the display. When first turned on, the contrast is not bad. But after an hour its not the same. Putting a light above the display helps BTW. But basically the contrast is not really high enough. The technology is easily capable of much better, I don't know why they chose that poor display.

As for changing back to Akai OS, the type of stuff I put on the MPC has changed over time. I am now putting 1 and 2 bar audio loops on it instead of using it as the main drum machine. Akai OS is fine when used this way (except for the disk corruption bug!), especially is I am making loops off a DAW. Can you remember how bad it was to zoom into a part of a sample with Akai OS?

Use the JJ for a couple of weeks and that akai os will start looking butt ugly.
