i sent a single program dump tonight. i set the bars to 1 just to keep it simple but loop was turned on. for some reason the mpc crapped out cos i think the sysex maybe sent an overlapping stream of data when it came back around for the second loop. i think microkorg's single program sizes are 300 bytes (three hundred BYTES!) or less, chump change as far as data. in any case, lost hours of work again. i'm sure an atari st with cubase negative 8 or whatever they had on there could handle more than this. i even hit stop immediately and it seems if there is data being sent all controls are momentarily unresponsive.
I even had soft thru turned off. none of the mpc controls responded except when i hit tap tempo the full level light turned off. that's all it would do, aside from a click sound every 2 seconds from the lockup.
man, i wish there was some midi reset key combo or something in my mind telling me to save before i do that sht. i have a feeling this is how it's going to be.
anyone have any sysex tips they'd like to share? I've posted sysex stuff before and no one really has much to say, perhaps i'm living in the dark ages of midi lords past.
sysex is cool, cos like, you can backup a single sound to your midi song data so when you go to play it back is uploads the program/sound back to your mpc or daw. good if your synth ever dies or is factory reset, the sound will be intact in your midi track.
