Redundant Question? Can anyone say why...

...I was trying to "extrapolate" a whole population man. Cmon now. I was just mentioning that this machine was a constant recommendation from a lot of folks I knew, I never made that claim, just mentioned my experience. And, like you said, it was only a FEELING, I wasn't trying to claim it as a fact, so chill on the psycho-analyzing and let's just discuss this topic.

Design royalties would entitle Roger Linn to a certain percentage of the profits on the machine. They could use what he designed already but they probably wanted to pay him flat out and not have to give him any royalties, which isn't a case where he asked for too much, it seems akai was getting greedy and wanted more of the profit.

Look at Dr Dre. He uses 5 MPC3000's all at once!!!
It was in Scratch magazine... they showed his gear....

Not greedy, more like almost bankrupt twice.

Do not forget that in the late 90's, Akai Pro's parent company did go bankrupt. If it was not for some ingenious work by a few people, Akai Pro would not even be around today and would have been liquidated along with Akai Electric.

Mr. Linn does not even follow the MPC crowd and has no active support for the MPC3000. He basically sells the updated OS for the MPC60 and that is it. He has not improved it in years. Does this sound like someone a company wants on an MPC dream team? We can only speculate on whatever relationship was between Akai Pro and Linn, but I can personnally say that in order for someone to hire me to do something that I am not interested in is going to have to pay me a LOT of money.

I do like my MPC3000, but it is quickly becoming an antique. It can be improved, but it seems that one of the only people that could do it is not interested in it at all.

Roger Linn has said that he is Working on a New Sampling Drum Machine, no details yet, and no promises, but I have confirmed it with him.

The MPC3000 came out in 94' I believe...Akai was doing well until they released the mpc2000, huh?

I'm sure that Roger Linn could easily upgrade the os on the MPC3000 but I believe(and this is just my opinion) that If he does this he will increase Akai's stock(which he probably doesn't want to do). I think he is working on a software version of the MPC3000 that will come out under his own company and will change the way music is made again.....just my thoughts
