Or will I be able to do mostly everything I expect to with the free version?

Or rather are there any glaring usability concerns with the free version as compared to the other?

I read on here that you can sample and apply to pads while playing a sequence with the jjos.. is that with both versions?

Definitely get the free one instead of the akai one,its way more usable
Decide from there. (well worth $15 in my opnion)

9/10 Cats prefer JJos.

The JJ has audio tracks, but you can't record a sample and assign it to a pad without stopping the sequence.
