Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hey Guys I just got a standard Mpc 2000xl w/ no Zip or CD-Rom Drive and I was wondering if anyone had the specifications for each for instance what i would need for the drives to be compatible with the MPC also if anyone has a place where I can get them for cheap in NYC I would appreciate it. Also if I get the Cd-Rom Drive can I sample off of it because I have a ton of import cds that i would like to use for samples is the CD-Rom Drive the right thing to get to do this? If not than what is ? The last question I have is that I was borrowing one of friends MPC 1000's And I have alot of its .wav samples still stored in the computer if I burn A CD with .wav files can i use these samples in the MPC with the Cd-Rom Drive?

Thanks In Advance

This may help to start with.....

. :)

Also note that CDrom drives do not usualy allow you to play audio CDs when used with the MPC2000xl. You can however use them to load wave files that you have on a CD. Just use a regular CD player for sampling.

So I have an external CDROM

its old and crappy

but the MPC 2000XL sees him just fine. It just doesnt see the discs I play in it.

Weird input: Its a panasonic PD/CDROM *yes* LF-1000 it can see the PD Disc, but not the CDROMs Ive been burning. Am I doing something wrong? I've tried mode1 and mode two, it looks to be that iso 9660 or whatever standard. Anyone have any ideas?
