Mpc 2000 Noise Problem

I got a mpc 2000 with 32mb of ram hooked up to some krk rockit 5s and Sony headphones.

The problem is getting interference or noise on everything coming out of it from every source.

My question, is this a cable, ram, or a more serious problem?

I'm using TRS to TRS cables.

It's more than likely the cables...I was having a similar problem. I switched my cables to gold and now the sound is fine. Give it a try. I doubt that it's the RAM

I have the same set up, i agree its more likely the cables than anything, what kind are you using? how do you have everything hooked up?

Yeah thats probably it, hosas really arent that bad depending on what you use them for, i use them for midi and my electric instruments, ie keyboard, for the rockits though I use Mogami xlr to 1/4" which are a little pricey, and im running them into a mixer and they sound great. What are you runnin the monitors into

I'm running them directly into the mpc. I got new cables the ones right under the mogami and the problem is still there, that made me think it was in the samples but it wouldnt be in every single sample I have it seems that the MPC is adding this noise. I don't know what the problem is someone please help.

The lower I have my master volume the more noticable it is with the master volume lowered to -72dbs it sounds like distortion.

maybe bad outputs hope not try opening up the unit and cleaning it out abit

what kind of noise is it, exactly? does it modulate or change when you turn the data wheel? it could be a ground loop problem

Play around with the levels on the back of the monitors and see if you notice a difference, after that get a pair of headphones and plug them and see if it's still there, if you hear it with the headphones (or other source) its most likely the mpc. If you don't hear it its probably the monitors. The Rockits are great monitors and i love mine to death but they arent the top of the line in reference speakers. Ohyeah and make sure you dont have the volume on the monitors cracked all the way up, I run mine through a mixer but I have the volume set no more than half way up, but usually less. Also like the other guy said, what kind of sound is it making?...Also with the samples you gotta make sure that they are the right bit rate and hertz, which is prolly why youre hearing it on some and not others, you wanna make sure its at 16bit and 44.1hz, I use db power amp to convert all my samples and sounds. But thats more for if you're loading the samples on a disk from a computer, if you're sampling directly into the mpc from an audio source you shouldnt have a problem, in which case if it is it could be you're ins or outs...If all else fails look into your ram

I went to guitar center today and I can now explain.

The lower the volume the more distortion, the exact opposite of what its suppose to do.

So is it doin the same thing with the headphones on? Are you making sure that when you record your samples that they are not clipping?

Took it to guitar center its the mpc. I have to send it to the doctor or something because the lower the volume the more distortion.

Has any one ever encountered this?

The lower I turn down the volume the more it distorts. Any ideas?
