Important: 4k bugfix update

So the 5000 will come out in June with OS 1.0 which probably actually is OS 0.011 ALPHA

Nah lets hope nukai doesnt do the same mistakes as old akai did and ship with barely useful OS's. After all Numark has more $ than Akai probably ever did. And if they indeed do a bugfix that fixes alot of stuff I'll be happy but still, it would t ake me ALOT to buy another akai machine after all these years. So Nukai, surprise me!

When I jumped in last year the OS was on V0.49 or something, at the moment we are on 1.0. Testing is going on for a long time.

By now I can assure you (and everybody else) that the OS 1.0x for the 5k will be good.
Bugfree is about impossible with so many parameters but I feel confident that there will be no major problems. And even if one pops up that has been overlooked, Akai will jump in with a in-between fix, I am sure.

There is also some good stuff planned for the next major update.
And Akai will take the contributed ideas (also some nice ones from here) serious, and what can be done and what is judged usefull hopefully sees the light as well in that future update.
I personally have experienced the fellow testers and programmers to be very fast and informative and professional during the test/fix process (which is still going on until the 5k will ship).
The few weeks delay has nothing to with bugs by the way.

Id say: no worries for the 5k in this respect.

By next major update are you still referring to the 5k or is the 4k included.

A update is far different from a bugfix. Update means new additions whereas a bugfix is just the functions we have working properly. Just clarifiying your statement that is all?

Sorry, I am speaking about the 5k. OS V1.0 is here now, a future major update is planned as far as I know (which could also include minor bugfixes).
in-between bugfixes will be released if necessairy.

For the 4k: a *bugfix* update is planned (when resourced can be made available) after the release of the 5k. That one is not sure yet, but the intentions are there with Akai.

scd can we have your solemn promise that Akai will include everything we have ever wanted, for free, immediately, and that all of it will work perfectly first time and there will be no need to upgrade or buy anything else ever again?

I think I have already answered that question.

I know this is the wrong thread, but since we are talking about the release date of the mpc5000 what about the EXM E3?
I can't find a store that has it, or know what it is for that matter.

Reading this thread, I just wanted to make sure that my own personal Most H8ted bug is in the list:

Programs not responding to MIDI Note Off velocity properly.

If I set up a wacky program modulation matrix setting to audibly test it,
e.g. set all keygroups to
OFF VELOCITY >>> PITCH +50 or sthg,
(and make sure there is a fair amount of "release" Envelope time)

then you can clearly hear it does work for that -
if you use a Keyboard which has note off velocity (I have Kurzweil MIDI board, CME UF7), then depending on how quickly you release a key, you can hear the pitch swoop of the note change accordingly.

But, if I try to set OFF VELOCITY >>> RELEASE TIME
(probably the most musically useful setting)
it barely seems to do anything.
The LOG/LIN setting of the program seems to interfere with it...
it almost sounds like the code thinks that the note off velocity can't change what the envelope does, because the software envelope is instantiated at Note On and so by the time Note Off happens, the release is already set. Or sthg.
