does the type of turntable matter?

I got a stanton t.60 no mixer just ran straight to the mpc should I have a better turntable? ANd do I really need a mixer I was encouraged to get one a while back but never did should i?

mixer's are definitely good to have for sample taking---I personally use an old kenwood piece of sht turntable and it works great for what I do---no scratching of course---

also a pre amp for your turntable is needed unless ur turntable has an internal one

yeah you need a mixer unless you deck hass a pre-amp.

I got a preamp, I just don't know if I should have a mixer with the highpass filters and low pass on it... although the mpc has that on it already

As long as your turntable doesn't rumble it's better to put your cash into buying a better cartridge. Make sure that the arm is balanced properly and that you've got the tracking force set to how you like it. The only advantage a mixer will give you is outboard EQs and a crossfader for chopping. It's sometimes useful to have a different choice of EQs/filter if you want to get a more analogue filter sound.

If you've got the cash, I'd recommend getting hold of an Ortofon cart and stylus

To be honest I prefer the 1200. I guess any table is good as long as it revolves. Hmmmm a mixer could be useful just incase you want to add you own scratches in your beat...

Over the years I learned that a mixer is not that important anymore. I like using a rosetta 200 nowadays instead of a mixer.

i also use the t60 - im good with, but plan to buy a better needle some day..

one thing .... it don't matter.... but you get what you pay for !!!!,believee dat.

as dopedee said the tech1200, you can't go wrong and will out last any TT and is the industry standard.


if you got a TT now just get a good or high end needle. and not one of those scratch needles those color your sound.
