500 Dollars

I've got 500 hundred dollars to spend my good friends. I have a 2kxl, turntable, and tons of records. Give me your ideas, and I appologize for the cliche topic, I guess Im just caught in the hype of having 500 dollars.

A motif7 went for 500 on ebay. i think thats what you could use next. some keys to play mpc multisamples and of course the on-board soundset. i think it has a sampler too but i haven't looked into it enough yet...the motif is what i am gunning for. maybe a triton if i freak the ish outta the presets...
if you have 8-outs you could get a mixer and means to record. such as behringer cheapie 8 channel and up w/ a roland vs840 or mackie 1202 w/ fostex mr8. oh yeah you'll want monitors too i bet..

good set of monitors, a mixer, build a cpu if you don't have one. but I guess it depends on what you really need. consider every possibility.

If you don't already have Studio monitors get a decent pair of those. Maybe look into getting a mixer and 8 outs to mix your tracks down individually. Or you could always spend a little cash on records and save up some more to buy Mackies or some shit... iono

a dope soundcard works too. that would depend highly on the 8 outs situation however

What exactly is so different about studio monitors? Right now I just have your basic sony floor standing speakers plugged into a reciever. What would make studion monitors worth like the extra 200 dollars?

studio monitors give you a flat frequency response to reflect what your music really sound like. home speakers are made to sound good and won't allow you to properly mix your music. but since you don't have a mixer don't get monitors. wait till you're ready to start recording.
