Loading AKAI sounds from an Akai CD

Hello All,

This is a newbie question. Since I cannot examine, from windows XP the content of this given Akai CD I cannot figure out the best way to load the samples into the MPC2500. Should I be getting the CD drive for the MPC 2500 and load the samples from there or can I simply convert the Akai CD to wav format and load them to the MCP via USB?Al

Also, I'm I right in asumming that AKAI CD contain full instruments samples covering a range of notes?

do you know which akai format is on the cd? the mpc 2500 is not compatible with the akai s-1000/3000 format and samples from the s-5000 or s-6000 can be only loaded via a computer in wav format. that means you can use the samples if you use a computer to load the wave files over usb, but you don´t get the programs and have to build your own of the samples.
you cannot see anything on a s-1000 cd in windows explorer, but you can load the samples in a softsampler like the ones in reason. to convert the whole cd or parts of it you can use propellerheadz reload.
i don´t know if there is a freeware program that can convert the cd.

well, thats news to me. i have tons of these old akai format cds that i used to get the samples out using the chicken systems translator and atapi driver, but that doesnt seem to work anymore - something to do with windows xp / updates perhaps?
