MPC 1000 Recording into Ableton

hi all!

I am just connecting my studio up

I was wondering how people record their drum tracks from their mpc's
to a digital audio workstation, such as ableton?

do you mute other drum parts and play them into the daw a seperate tracks?

or is there a better way of doing things?

help and advice would be greatly appreciated!

depends - you can do it how you like, but most peps track indivually then add dynamics on the daw with vsts.

route your drums to your individual outs
setup corresponding audio tracks in Live
Record the tracks

you will need an interface with multiple inputs.

I say Invest in one really good preamp ( and later a good D/A converter )and track each sound individually through it.. It is better to focus on each sound being as hot and as warm as possible .. You can get a big studio sound without all of the equipment with the right amount of work..
