I'm this close too upgrading to jj's o/s 1 and then to o/s 2. I'm in the process of transfering my data from my HD and CF card(80 gigs total ) back to my comp so I can reformat it and start rockin jj's.
Questions:

1 Will I have to back up HD & CF and reformat with every new jj update?
2 Is jj's o/s limited to displaying only 16 character sample names like Akai o/s?
3 I hear all sorts of noise about various bugs. Are theses bugs debilitatiing or are they minor things that most people can work around? the worst one i heard so far was the report thatt files are being misplaced when saving into folders, which dosen't seem too bad. Are their midi sync bugs?
4 I have a bunch of wave files I wanna transfer into the MPC but some of the titles are too long (over 16 characters) Is there a program that can rename a lagre list of samples with so i don't have to do it manually? ( I have analog x autotune right now and lookin for other options)
5 Once I pay for a serial number from jj's site roughly how long does it take to get e-mailed to me?

Thanks

Many Many posts on this but...

1. No
2. I'm not sure...
3. No, at this point both OS's are most likely more stable than what you are rocking now...
4. Not Sure...
5. A day or two.

Peacebots.

jian: this is very useful.

THE easiest rename utility i've encountered. very handy for getting your library samples >16 characters
os1 bugs are few and far between, depending on your needs you may never come across them. look into 1waymusic's midi bug, that's currently "the big one"

i use os2, which as more bugs, big and small. i use it exclusively though, have been all 2008 so far, and i've not lost any work since one of the earlier betas. i encounter bugs now and then and work to report them as actively as i can. very much worth it to me.
