yeah or do it like rocbattle.com and record a simple voice sample over it, basically copyrighting it. it doesnt have to be loud just noticable, u could simply loop over the words "this beat created by "your name"" every 10 seconds or so. How u think people sample from youtube? same principle!

U can have all the Dopest stuff but if noone ever hears it its useless.
Myspace is a good way to network but if u wanna get in the big leagues or even a indie label u gotta get out there and work with artist from all over , give beats away, put urself out there.

well im 28 with kids (cant say that im completly broke) and i still feel like i have something to offer. so before u comment on older cats as if they were washed up kno this: while your searching for something its more than likely they have hit there prime or on the verge of blowing past that. which means that experience could take them somewhere. which means you can learn alot from them. im not talkin about myself just cause i happen to be 28 wit kids. im just speakin in general, but cats seem to think that u have to be a certain age to be relevant in hip hop which is the total opposite. there's cats that are nicer than they ever have been b4 the age of 30. and with that said the first thing u must realize is that nothing happens overnight i dont give a fuk how young/determine/nice u are. u gotta work just like those 28 year old dudes with kids . and just because they aint ''blow up'' dont mean they've been wastin time. people define success differently. im not bitter about that at all. i just wanted to clear that up. other than that i agree with u. myspace really aint sh!t at a certain degree but u cant say it doesnt help. thats free promo but its up to you to work it.

I'm not actually trying to make it off music or anything, just trying to have fun with it. One of those things entails getting rappers i personally enjoy and respect. The thing about myspace is, nobody is on myspace seek out talent. Infact, i think those days of finding new talent for AR's on their own is long and gone. With so many people now, why put in the effort when you have thousands of people who fit the bill right in front of you.


My point is, if you do the myspace thing and you want to do business, don't just let it sit idle and expect who you want to find it. Contact people. I've yet to make money but i've contacted people and have had conversations, given contact info and all that. Just off myspace. That is enough to make me think it is defineatly worthwhile. If you don't try to make business happen, it won't happen, reguardless of the medium you are using.



As for beat jacking, that's the risk you take by letting people hear you. You can be paranoid and not let your music out but who is going to hear you? Getting a beat jacked by some no name person, who cares? I mean, sure, it sucks because the work you did was marginalized by them but at the same time, it's not making you worse off. If it's from a major label, that is bad but in the end, it's rare, and it's usually not actually the label but somebody who jacks it and presents it as their own. In that case, you have much more of a possibility of getting compensated for it.

Yup, exactly. If anything, it's probably the best online site. You just can't let it sit idle and wait though. You first need the talent (and you may be very luckly and found purely off of that). You have to network, put your self out there. It's still a long shot for most, especially if you don't stand out but it can most defineatly happen and has been happening for a long time now.

Myspace can def help.....Sean Kingston was found through myspace and some other artist and producers but i think kingston is the biggest out right now from myspace and its real good for networking.
