Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I was getting crazy hiss in my recording too. Then I went and switched to some better cables. Not quite the mogamis yet, but killed 85-90% of my static issues. I'd say stay with the analog out and invest in some better cables.

good points dj, Also make sure the gain on the recording device isnt up to high that will really cause unwanted noise, on the fast track i turn the gain about 1/4 to 1/2 way up then i start a dummy recording and watch the decimeter, then i start with the volume down on the mpc and turn it up until the decimeter gets to where i want it, you have to be careful about turning the volume all the way up, make sure you check your gain on the recording device first or your music will clip.

Ot you can do it the other way around: start with the volume all the way up on the mpc (to minimize noise) and after playing the track, at its maximum potential, you can turn your input knob (on the hardware sound card) a bit down so it wont clip. You can have cubase input fader at 0db and monitor it in cubase.

You must have in mind the term "unity gain" which is 0db on every fader or gain knob. Thats usualy about the 3/4s of a fader distance (3/4 from bottom and 1/4 from top). That is the point where a fader doesnt add or take out db from a signal.
