I am a songwriter in Baltimore, Md. I have virtually no knowledge of samplers. I play keyboards (namely Rhodes, organ, piano, and awfully antiquated keyboard sounds). I'm interested in a versatile machine that can support my studio work AND live performance. Is the MPC this machine?

What would be the ideal setup to accomplish these goals, particularly live?

Is there something better out there?

Treat me like I know nothing because I don't :(

Thank you!

Maybe you should try to make clear what your goals actually are. There is a lot of equipment that can

support my studio work AND live performance

Plus it also depends on what you prefer and wheter an MPC fits you or not. Note that AKAI is well known for their samplers. Most people claim AKAI manufactures the best samplers out there.

Well.. mpcs arent for live performances.. seriously.. loop pedals are a lot more live oriented..i use both.. im a turntablist.. and physical samples are GORGEOUS BOMBSHELLS if u want to produce music with a rythmic approach.. (it makes the difference between lame and alive)... and allow u to treat sounds like they were samples... which can make u obtain results uve never thought possible with live playing.. BUT... they arent made for live performances except playback and live drumming i guess..

what im saying is.. u could play sounds in an mpc, but it wont allow u to stack up sounds and communicate and toggle between machines like a loop pedal would...
