hey ya'll,

i'm going through the tutorial step by step, day by day, trying to get a grasp of this MPC.

So i'm on the chapter for "Recording Sequences"... I went to load a program called "Drumkit", i press "do it".....it asks me "load with samples?" i say yes. "replace same samples in memory?" I say yes....then it says "Program name already exists!".

Which is not right, because when i go into Program Mode, there are no samples there under "Drumkit"?

so I say "Replace" and then I get "File Not Found!"..... I am totally confused now. What am I doing wrong? The tutorial says there are 3 samples within this Program, yet they are not appearing.

I've had the same problem with the tutorials files. Don't have a solution for it though.

Sorry, just noticed this thread. I just checked this tutorial, and that program loads up fine for me - program goes into memory and there's three samples on pads A1 to A3.

My MPC1000 is currently 'out of the box', no upgrades at all, even standard memory. All loaded up into os 2.11 via CF card. Do you have anything different?

hey MPC-Tutor, just sent you a pm and then found this thread again.

I'm still having the same problem with program files. Just tried to load the KICK.PGM file associated with 018 Sample Manipulation. The same thing happened.

What's interesting is that after this, I went to MODE - PAD 7 to see if the program loaded anyway. And it did. But this strange thing is happening, where I press on a pad, for example pad2 and under the first of four sounds, it says "?KICK1". Then I use the scroll wheel to see what else is there, that "?KICK" dissappears.

This is highly frustrating as I don't have a lot of sounds to use and it makes progress on this tutorial very slow.

Hi

I just loaded up that program and it loads up fine for me. I get 16 pads on bank A each with a kick sample assigned (kick1, kick2, etc).

As per my previous post, could you describe your set up - OS version, storage (CF card or hard drive), memory (factory default 16mb, Akai 128mb upgrade, unofficial memory). Basically anything that may indicate why your machine appears to be faulty. the mpc1000 book is our biggest selling product and you are the first person to get this problem (to my knowledge), so my best guess is you have a hardware or software fault on your machine, especially as it all works fine for me (I just tried it on 3 different MPCs - a 1k, a 2500, and a 500)

Either that or the obvious issue would be that your samples have somehow been separated from the program file (or renamed) - look directly in the folder where the kick.pgm file resides - do you have four separate kick samples, specifically named KICK1.wav, KICK2.wav, KICK3.wav, KICK4.wav? Having a '?' at the start of the sample name on a pad is usually an indication that the sounds associated with that program are no longer in the same location.
