Does the harddrive need formatting once physically installed

So, 3 screws, disk in tray, tray in hole, put the front back on. Affimative. This might sound like a dumb question, and/or one thats been asked before, but can i literally turn it on and get going now or am i gonna have to format it? Coz i mean, no messages appear to say a new drive has been detected, and the 80GB hard drive is showing as HDD FREE = 0.0MB in the load page. Do i have to hold one of the pads when i turn it on?

sorry i forgot to mention im using the JJ OS 3.08

yes you need to format it press mode & load (pad2), select the hard drive, press window and press F2 (format)...

after a couple of minutes it should be cool...

there is no format on f2???
