Sync and JJOS : MPC won't recognize BPM of master with MTC

got some questions bout the midi sync, cause mpc is kinda wierd about it with jjos:

when i set up mpc1k to sync as slave to my sequencer using MTC, the mpc wont resolve to the bpm of the master (computer). it won't chase anywhere but to the beginning of the track, and it wont sync AT ALL unless i put in a number manually in the master and manually in the MPC. why??? seems pretty useless to put MTC in there if the function doesnt even work ;( ;(


using the vastly older standard of midi clock and spp sent from logic, i get the mpc1k to chase and sync fine....

what is wrong with the midi time code implementation in jjos?

which jjos version are you using? have you tried it with another sequencer? do you have loop set to on in the main screen?

oh.. and you do realise that with MTC you always have to set the slave AND master to the correct tempo (manually)
MTC doesn't transmit BPM setting like MidiClock does

^ Doesn't that mean that the tempo can be worked out by the slave device? I'm not stating, i'm asking, i've not tried this myself.

but,
Definately doesn't transmit BPM (tempo) you need to set that manually

Im running jj os 4.99b with logic 8 and i dont have set the tempo manually. mpc recognises it. hmmmm
mtc synced the mpc misses the first 16th of the 1st bar and then sync's up a treat.
missing the first part is a pain in the rear but mtc is much better than clock
as for some reason the clock from logic sends a signal to the mpc and the swing is changed. There is no logical explaination of this and i have spent days trying to work it out.
Also i did notice that the smpte in logic preferences starts at 1.0.0.0. and that has to be changed to 0.0.0.0 etc otherwise the mpc never starts.
If anyone could help me with the swing change issue in clock mode i'd really appreciate it as it would save a lot of hassle setting up mtc.
i had exactly the same $h17 with my mpc2000xl. thant never synced proper.

yeah your right, i just ended up using the mtc instead of clock cause the groove was all different when slaved to clock...but when in mtc it still had the swing in it..

and i found that if you start you sequencer a beat early, the sync gets the first beat no problemo..

any of you syncing to protools LE?

i tried to do it where the mpc1000 is the slave and using the transport online with mtc and when i press play in protools, the beat plays but audio doesn't record

if i turn off the blinking transport, then audio records fine

i have midi in and midi out hooked up right

maybe there's something on the setup menu in PT that isn't checked right?
