Sounds plus Kowledge

Hey 1/2 a G heads...certain some of you know this but maybe not the new cats to music production. Hit Barnes n Noble, Borders, Books a Million etc...and look for Music Tech Magazine or Future Music and a new magazine that comes out quarterly now called Producers Edge dedicated to hip hop production.

Each have a CD attached with a theme of sounds. Worth the price of a good read and some serious sounds n samples. Cheaper than many of the libaries on the net and as good if not better.

from synth, to drum kits, to real instruments...plus production tips out the ass.

Consider n make your own call but wanted to get that out to you guys.

I always read future producer, but why is it that these mags are like $20 an issue and I think a script was like $180 or somthing like that. Is there one I can look for that is made in the US so I can sucribe for a decent price?

answered my own question.

yeah a couple of them are more than a typical mag with no cd but in my humble opinion well worth 10-15 bucks because you get the tips plus the sounds...producersedge is the BOMB kicko..last pub had Sp1200 drum kits and a bunch of other stuff

Future Music / Computer Music mags rule, people! These are basically universal (though, I must admit CM is more dance music friendly) and not style-oriented like Producers Edge which is a bit mind-closing in my opinion. What I like most in CM, for instance, are the video tutorials, which are both inspiring and instructive. The style tutorials, when you are offered to write a track in a certain style with all necessary samples given, are great as well!

Future Music is almost always 16 bit WAV files but also has Battery kits and Kontakt. MusicTech varies the bit rate and there are some rex files etc too. CM tends to be WAV files and I found that they were 24 bit more than 16 bit.

I have 20 odd FM dvds and they are a brilliant source of sounds.
