I did a while back. You'd do better to just ask your question, somebody is bound to have a solution to your problem.

Sup man?

Thanks for offering to help. I need to know what you do to record your songs made with the MPC and the Motif. Do you have Motif as a SLAVE or MASTER?

I need to know how to have them set up so I can record the audio tracks into Sonar2.1 so I can mix it all there. What do you do?

On the Motif I sequence melodies and add sound effects and on the MPC I sequence strictly drum patterns. I have the Motif set up as a master. I cant seem to figure out how to record the audio from both devices at the same time and have them synced up in my software too.

If I record the audio from my motif itll be just fine but once i try record the MPC's audio I cant seem to sync it up so it records exactly in time with the motif the way it should. Do I have to have my MPC connected to my Motif via MIDI and my Motif connected to my computer so when Im ready to record the computer tells it all when to start playing? Instead of guessing where the audio goes and having to edit it by sliding it? If any of this rambling makes sense....

Yo... I set it all up like I said and my software doesnt respond. I think I know why but I cant fix it. Maybe you can help? I think its because the motif only allows either MIDI or USB not both. In order to hook the MPC up it has to say MIDI on the Motif. Now In order to get the Motif to talk to my PC it has to say USB but I cant have both, therefore the software wont talk to the Motif. If that makes sense. Maybe my soundcard has an option or something? Im new to hardware so bare with me.

I have a M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 soundcard with MIDI ins/ outs... Do I hook anything up to this? I have the mpc controlling the Motif and visa versa just not syncing with my software. Any help???

Ok I have my Motif set up as a SLAVE and my MPC as a MASTER. How do I get my computer to control the MPC tho? I thought the USB was only for sending and reading files from the MPC to the computer...

The USB on the MPC1000 is like that, but the USB on the Motif is a MIDI interface too. Can I assume you're hooking the Motif to the PC that way?

You want the computer to control the MPC1000... to do what? Do you mean:
- the computer runs a sequencer that you want the MPC1000 to sync to? Then the computer must be the Master, and not the MPC1000.
- or, do you want to use the computer as a slave device, with the MPC1000 as the sync master, using its transport controls? Then the MPC1000 is the master.

Then, the only question left is how you wire it all up...

Sync Master status is like being a Highlander: "There Can Be Only One!"

Open Sonar> click on the Options tab> select Midi Devices> select the midi device that you have the MPC hooked up to(you should have MPC midi in 2 connected to your midi interface unless the USB on the 1k also acts as a midi interface in which case you would select it as the midi device)> Go back to the Options tab> select Project Options> select the Clock tab> the Source should be set to Audio, if it's not select Audio now> click on the MIDI OUT tab> check Transmit MIDI Start/Continue/Stop/Clock> select the correct MIDI Output Port> check Transmit MMC> click OK> set the tempo in Sonar to the same tempo as the sequnce in the MPC.

Now I don't know if the midi sync features are the same in the 1k as the 2kxl but I'll explain how it works on the 2kxl and you should be able to take it from there> go into the MIDI/SYNC screen and select the correct midi input(midi input 2 in this case)> switch Mode from OFF to MIDI CLOCK> switch Receive MMC to ON>

Now arm the track in Sonar and hit Record on the transport and the MPC should start palying while Sonar records.
